Three days of gravel riding

Riding and racing on June 10-11-12

The ultimate prize: be crowned an official 'gravel gorilla' by completing all three competition events. The best overall rider will receive the one and only 'gravel gorilla king' and 'gravel gorilla queen' jacket. 


  • June 10

    Start times to be announced to week before the event

  • 25 kilometers

    Hilly individual time trial. Nothing too technical, all too steep.

  • Time Trial

    Each rider will receive induvidual time that counts towards the Gravel Gorilla GC

  • Eat and Drink

    No aid stations needed here, but base food and drinks will be available at start and finish line

Baby Gorilla

  • June 11

    Start at 7am

  • 100 kilometers

    Combination of social ride and timed segments, over a fast rolling gravel course

  • Timed Segments

    8 segments on the course (that will be clearly indicated) will be timed, and added up for a stage classification and will count towards the Gravel Gorilla CC

  • Eat and Drink

    Two aid stations on the course, and plenty at the finish line

The Silverback

  • June 12

    Start at sunrise (6am)

  • 200 kilometers

    A to B type of race, with start in Kigali and finish in Kinigi (Musanze), mainly good quality gravel roads that get more bumpy near the end of the race. A 150km short version will be made available for those who wish)

  • Gravel Race

    Fastest to the line. Simple as that. Mass start.

  • Eat and Drink

    Three aid stations on the course, and a party after the finish
